Blood Drive

HOSA has partnered with Versiti Blood Center of Michigan to save community lives.

Versiti is a fusion of blood donation, scientific curiosity, and precision medicine which recognizes that the gifts of blood and life are precious.

In our HOSA partnership with the Versiti community, the blood donations we collect are of crucial importance for local Michigan hospitals. Patients need help all year long, not just during times of high need. Blood donors can give up to six times a year – every 56 days – but most only give once per year. Everyone at Lutheran High North who pitches in, from volunteers to donors, can feel good about helping patients who depend on receiving that blood. We can do a lot of good and have a huge impact.

Odds have it that someone you know will need blood during your lifetime. In fact, every two seconds someone in America needs blood – from trauma victims to cancer patients, from mothers giving birth to premature babies, and so many more.

Versiti has made the process of donating very efficient. Our fall blood drive ran smoothly with most donors completing the process within 30 minutes. The success of the drive depends on the LHN community. If your child is 16 years or older, they can donate. Consider selecting times together or encouraging your child to donate. They can even sign up with a friend. Either option is a great way to encourage first time donors. If your child is 16 years old and would like to donate, they must have a Parental Consent Form filled out and handed in to Mrs. Mandziara prior to the blood drive. On the consent form, you will find the height and weight requirements for 16–18-year-olds. Students will also be able to sign up by scanning the QR code on posters around the school and during their lunch periods February 27-29.

Please come out to support our drive on Thursday, March 7th from 8am to 1pm at LHN in the Auxiliary Gym. You will be joining staff and students who will be there to donate, volunteer and cheer you on. We look forward to seeing you there!

Sincerely,

Nicole Mandziara, HOSA Advisor

There are many ways you can help, but most importantly we hope you come out to donate.

Thank you for making Lutheran High North such a success. Let’s make an impact on November 8th by adding it to our list of great accomplishments.
