National Honor Society

Chapter of Lutheran High School North

The National Honor Society (NHS) is a nationwide organization for high school students to honor and promote character, service, leadership, and scholarship in the school and community.

Students with a minimum GPA of 3.5 are eligible to apply in the spring of their junior year. Applicants must complete a resume exhibiting and proving their character, leadership, service, and scholarship. Once submitted, the resume goes through a revision and selection process. Two induction ceremonies take place throughout the year—the first being in the fall, the second being in the spring. There is also an opportunity for students to apply in the fall of their senior year.

NHS students meet monthly to plan service events and prepare for the next induction ceremony. Service is required to the community, school, or other organizations. Transportation needs will depend on the specific service activities performed each year.
