We are so excited to welcome Mr. Andrew Schaibly to our ministry team.  He is currently in his 10th year of teaching Physical Education (5 of them in the Lutheran School system).  He is married to his wife Jillian and have two young daughters, Nora is 4 and Lucy is 1.  Andrew earned his teaching degree through Central Michigan University where he was on the Track team for 4 years throwing Javelin.  As well as his Master’s Degree through American College of Education in Educational Leadership.  Mr. Shaibly’s schedule this year is split between two schools so he will be teaching Boys Physical Education at Lutheran High Northwest in the mornings and travel to Lutheran North to teach Lifetime & Weightlifting in the afternoon.  He is very excited to finally be teaching in the high school setting.

  1. What’s your role at Lutheran North?

    Physical Education Teacher

  2. Where are you from?

    Caledonia, Michigan

  3. When did you know that you wanted to be in the Lutheran high school environment and what led you to pursue that path?

    My wife taught at LHNW for 10 years and I thought the Lutheran community was a fun community so here I am.

  4. What’s your favorite Bible verse?

    Joshus 1:9

  5. What are three words to best describe you?

    Brave, Active, Motivator

  6. What was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?

    Fish Processor (cut fins off fish on an assembly line)

  7. Do you have a hidden talent? What is it?

    Competitive Shooter

  8. If you could choose a superpower, what would it be?

    Invisibility (to hide from my daughters and their million questions at home)

  9. What’s your favorite food?

    Pizza.

  10. What’s your least favorite food?

    Salmon

  11. What’s your favorite place that you’ve traveled and why?

    Germany. Where my family is from, and the countryside is amazing!

  12. Where would you like to travel next and why?

    Hawaii ... I have some friends that live out there and their pictures look awesome.

  13. What’s a fun fact about you many people may not know?

    I am still top 10 all time in the Javelin throw at CMU.

  14. What’s one hobby you’d like to get into?

    Hunting other kinds of animals especially bear, elk, or moose.

  15. What’s your favorite sport to watch and which team do you root for?

    Football, Green Bay Packers (GO PACK GO)

  16. Are you an early bird or a night owl?

    Night owl.

  17. Are you a dog person or a cat person (neither or both)?

    Dog person.

  18. What’s one of your favorite memories from the past year?

    Flew out to Seattle and hiked up some mountains and saw the most breathtaking scenery.

  19. What’s the best advice you were ever given? Who was it from?

    "Be a protector not a fighter" - Dad (Pete)

  20. Is there any advice you’d offer to current and future Lutheran North students?

    Always create goals for yourself and then go out a get them. Its okay if goals change along the way.
