Class of 2019 Valedictorian and Co-Salutatorians

This year Lutheran North is blessed to have three gifted young ladies representing academic excellence! Congratulations to Valedictorian Karli Monahan and Co-Salutatorians Hannah Ebel, as well as Salutatorian Lillian Martin.

Karli is one of LHN’s seniors elected to the Macomb County All-Academic team, represented the school on Channel 7’s Brightest and Best and was featured in the Macomb Daily as Student of the Week. She was also named to the Catholic All-Scholastic team all four years. During her time at Lutheran North, she has been involved in numerous activities such as Example, HOSA, where she was an executive and a two-time regional champion; student council, National Honor Society, ski club and Spanish club. She has played varsity cross country, basketball and track for the Mustangs, was a cross country and track captain, and earned several scholar-athlete distinctions, including being named a CHSL Scholar-Leader-Athlete for track. She and her family are members at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Macomb, where she attended grade school. She enjoys staying active in volunteering through Immanuel. Her future plans include pursuing a double major in human biology and biomedical laboratory science at Michigan State University’s Lyman Briggs College, and will also study in the Honors College and Osteopathic Medical Scholars Program.

Hannah is one of six LHN seniors on the Macomb County All-Academic team. Hannah and her parents Anne and Will Ebel are members at St. Peter Macomb, where she attended grade school. She volunteers there helping with Sunday School and VBS. While at LHN, Hannah has been involved in NHS, Ski Club, Example, and varsity track and cross country. She served as one of the captains for both of these teams during her senior year. Her future plans are to attend Concordia University Wisconsin and major in mathematics.

Lillian and her parents, Lynn and Stephanie Martin, are members of Knox Presbyterian in Harrison Township. She came to North from L’Anse Creuse Middle School North. While at LHN, Lillian was an active, four-year member, and senior captain of both the cross country and track teams earning eight Scholar Athlete awards and varsity letters, numerous All League and All County awards, 2018 All Macomb County medalist – pole vault, and nominated for the 2019 Hal Schram Girl’s Cross Country Scholar Athlete Leader award. She was also a member of National Honor Society and participated in EXAMPLE. For her NOAH hours, Lillian enjoys ministering to her church’s covenant children, volunteering in the toddler room and Vacation Bible School. Outside of LHN, Lillian has danced for 14 years and is excited to carry on into college. A recipient of the Distinguished Scholar Award from Oakland University, Lillian plans to attend in Fall 2019 with a dual major in Pharmacy and Dance.

Blessings to these talented and dedicated young ladies as they look forward to their college experience. May their faith remain a guiding force as they pursue their education!
