Lutheran North’s Lauren Timpf wins third state golf championship

Lauren Timpf marched on.

The Lutheran North senior won a third state golf championship when she finished with 141 strokes at the Division 3 finals at The Meadows on Saturday.

She became the seventh player in Lower Peninsula history to win three titles.

Timpf shot 74 on Friday and followed with 67 on the final day of the tournament at Grand Valley State.

Grand Rapids Catholic Central won the team championship with 673. Williamston was second with 685 and Lutheran North third with 696.

Timpf was tied with Spring Lake’s Zoe Dull entering the final 18 holes. Dull and Grand Rapids Christian’s Lillian O’Grady both finished with two-day totals of 149 to tie for second.

Timpf recorded a double-bogey on her first hole Friday, but recovered with four straight birdies on the back nine.

Ava Wisinski’s 158 led Catholic Central.
