We are proud to announce that Jessica Roman has joined the Lutheran North team filling the role of Structured Learning teacher. Mrs. Roman is excited to join the staff at LHN! She attended Bishop Foley High School and graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a major in Honors Mathematics. She began her teaching career at University Liggett School for three years, and continued teaching math at Grosse Pointe North High School for the past 28 years. She is looking forward to working with the students of LHN! She and her husband Joe have been married for 26 years and are the proud parents of Rocco (LHN ’23 and current freshman at Xavier University), Xavier’26, and Immanuel student and future Mustang Ravella ’30.

  1. What’s your role at Lutheran North?

    Structured Learning Teacher

  2. Where are you from?

    Shelby Twp, Michigan

  3. When did you know that you wanted to be in the Lutheran high school environment and what led you to pursue that path?

    My oldest son started at Immanuel in 2007 and as he and his brother and sister went through both Immanuel and Lutheran North, I always thought that I would transition at some point from teaching in public school to teaching at LHN. When the opportunity came to me this year, it was a perfect fit.

  4. What’s your favorite Bible verse?

    All things are possible with God. Mark 10:27

  5. What are three words to best describe you?

    Passionate, organized, supportive

  6. What was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?

    I was a summer camp counselor.

  7. Do you have a hidden talent? What is it?

    I love taking pictures!

  8. If you could choose a superpower, what would it be?

    Time travel.

  9. What’s your favorite food?

    Mexican.

  10. What’s your least favorite food?

    I'll try anything once!

  11. What’s your favorite place that you’ve traveled and why?

    Italy! Everything about it!

  12. Where would you like to travel next and why?

    Cincinnati, Ohio to visit my son in college.

  13. What’s a fun fact about you many people may not know?

    My husband and I grew up down the street from each other.

  14. What’s one hobby you’d like to get into?

    Golf.

  15. What’s your favorite sport to watch and which team do you root for?

    I am behind the Irish of Notre Dame all the way.

  16. Are you an early bird or a night owl?

    Early bird for sure.

  17. Are you a dog person or a cat person (neither or both)?

    Our dog Enzo confirms - dog person.

  18. What’s one of your favorite memories from the past year?

    Watching our son Rocco have the best senior year at LHN!

  19. What’s the best advice you were ever given? Who was it from?

    Among many other wonderful pieces of advice, my parents have always told me, "Don't look back."

  20. Is there any advice you’d offer to current and future Lutheran North students?

    My high school principal, Mr. Gajewski, always gave the same speech to incoming freshmen. He said his only hope was at the end of your four years, you didn't say two words - "if only." If only I had worked harder .... if only I had tried out for the team ... if only I had gone outside my comfort zone." I took that advice to heart and always pass it on.
