Michigan HOSA State Leadership 2026 Conference

This was the largest MI HOSA SLC with 3,344 high school students competing. Lutheran North had 8 competitors in 6 different events.

Avery Stallmann took home a gold medal in veterinary science after having the highest combined score from the test and skills portion of her event.

When the names of Riley Kadzielewski and Bella Malesky were announced for being in the top eight of their team events for forensic science, they literally jumped out of their seats. I will forever have their shocked facial expressions locked in my mind. They went running up to the stage and when all the teams were up there, they began to announce the medal winners. When Riley and Bella’s names were announced as the silver medal winners, I was able to capture their facial expressions. It was such an incredible moment for these two young ladies.

All three medal winners will now have to opportunity to compete at the International Leadership Conference in Indianapolis, June 17-20th.

The SLC is run by over 300 volunteers. The students can also sign up to volunteer. I had 7 of our Lutheran North students sign up to help in various ways through HOSA’s Courtesy Corps program. Medals were awarded to the top three students based on the total number of hours worked. I am proud to announce that Nina Watson volunteered 6.5 hours of her time and was awarded a silver medal.

New this year at SLC were the mobile health units from MSU and CMU. A group of Lutheran North students signed up for an escape room event hosted by MSU. They said it was fun but also very challenging.

As always, I am so proud of our students who go above and beyond to take on the responsibility to study and practice for their competitive events. Even though not all get called up on stage, they are winners in my book. To God be the glory for their success in making it to SLC.
