Mustang Minute - September 3, 2026
Lutheran North Families,
Another successful week is in the books. It’s hard to believe that we have just finished week three, but with an early start to the school year, it has also given our students and staff an opportunity to get settled in more quickly than usual. We pray that your children are adjusting well to the routines of another school year.
Our chapel speakers on Monday and Tuesday focused on Matthew 16, during which Jesus rebuked Peter and reminded him to focus on the things of God, rather than the things of man. Our students, faculty and staff were reminded that this world will slowly try to pull us away from Christ, but to stand firm, draw close to Him and to focus on the things of God.
During Thursday’s chapel, Pastor Dan Howard of Hope Lutheran Church in Warren, inducted our new teachers. We are excited to bring them into the fold and to walk alongside them as they deliver content and the message of Christ to our students each day.
Outside of the classroom, athletics and clubs are in full swing. Our Theatre Department determined their cast list for Alice in Wonderland. We cannot wait to see the production this fall. We also held our first HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) meeting in the student center, which was so heavily attended that we needed nearly every seat available. Please continue to encourage your children to get involved!
As we head into a long weekend, I encourage each of our families to take some time to enjoy the company of one another, enjoy God’s creation and to dive into His word. We have an exciting year ahead of us, but long weekends like this give our families a much-needed chance to enjoy some time away from the normal routines of school. I pray God’s richest blessings on your families during the break and look forward to seeing our students back on Tuesday morning.

Lutheran North Principal
AN IMPORTANT LETTER FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT
Dear LHSA Parents,
The new Federal Education Tax Credit program has the potential to provide significant financial assistance to families for educational expenses. However, for eligible LHSA families to benefit, the State of Michigan must first opt into the program. At this time, Michigan has not opted into the program.
Beginning in January of 2027, individuals who donate to an approved Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO) may receive a federal tax credit of up to $1,700. SGOs can then provide scholarships to eligible families to help cover qualified K-12 educational expenses.
I encourage you to learn more about the program by reviewing this document (Michigan SGO.pdf) from the Michigan Association of Non-Public Schools or by visiting the SGO Guide website here.
For many LHSA families, this program could provide meaningful financial assistance for educational expenses. I encourage you to consider contacting your state legislators and the Governor's office to express your support for Michigan opting into the program. Communication from parents and constituents can play an important role in emphasizing the positive impact this would have on families.
In Christ,
Micah Lorenzen
