Mustang Minute - October 9, 2026
Lutheran North Families,
It’s hard to believe, but the homecoming week is already in the rearview mirror. As I wrote to you last week, we were in the middle of a successful homecoming Friday, looking ahead to Friday night games and a Saturday night dance. I am happy to report that all of mustang athletics were victorious, and the dance floor was packed until the very last song. A big thanks to our athletic director, student council leaders and members, our staff, all the parent volunteers who helped Friday night (over 200!) and our students for making it a great week. I know it's a year away, but I'm already excited for next year.
As the leaves change color, the temperatures cool and daylight seems to fade, it is clear that fall is upon us. In the education world, fall brings many changes as well. October 23rd is the end of our first marking period. That’s right, 2nd quarter is almost here! October also signals nationwide testing. Next week over 400 of our students will participate in College Board’s October testing and take either the PSAT 8/9, PSAT/NMSQT or the SAT. For seniors October means applying to colleges, especially those interested in getting their application submitted before the early-action deadline.
In the extracurricular world, seasons are ending for sub-varsity programs, but our varsity Mustangs are preparing for league tournaments and district, regional and state playoff runs. If you’ve been keeping tabs, our Mustangs are knocking it out of the park in every sport we offer. We are hoping to hang a few more banners in our gym after the fall. Our theatre department is also hard at work, preparing for their production, which is just under a month away. Keep November 6th and 7th open on your calendars as you won’t want to miss this year’s production of Alice in Wonderland.
We are also excited to announce that our application for the class of 2031 is now open. Everyone connected with Lutheran North is on the admissions team! Word of mouth is a powerful tool. Please encourage anyone those around you to consider Lutheran North for their child’s high school education. A Christian education is as vital now as it has ever been. Children ages 14-18 are in some of the most formidable years of their life, especially when it comes to faith formation. There is no better place that Lutheran North to receive a rigorous education and a daily sharing of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
As always, we hope you enjoy this week’s version of the Mustang Minute and pray you and your family have a wonderful weekend!

STATE OF THE SCHOOL UPDATE
We invite you to join us on November 19th at 7 pm for our upcoming State of the School Update, an opportunity to hear directly from school leadership about the exciting work taking place at Lutheran North. Principal Garrett Wenzelburger and Superintendent/CEO Micah Lorenzen will share updates on enrollment, academics, student life, facilities, strategic priorities, and the future direction of our school. Whether you are a current family, alumni, supporter, congregation member, delegate, area pastor, or friend of our school, we welcome you to learn more about how God is blessing our ministry and how we can continue working together to serve students and families for years to come.
Coming soon, powerschool lunch!
We are excited to announce that we will be adding a cashless lunch payment option for our students through Power Lunch! This will provide families with a convenient way to add money to their students’ lunch account without having to send cash to school.
We will continue to accept cash for lunch purchases, but we are hopeful that the new cashless option will provide an additional, convenient choice for families.
We are currently working through the final details of the system. As soon as we know how parents can upload funds to their student account, we will communicate those instructions with the school community.
We appreciate your patience as we get this new option up and running and look forward to providing our families with another convenient way to manage student lunch accounts!
