Mustang Minute - August 21, 2026

Lutheran North Families,

It’s finally here!

After a summer that included building updates, faculty preparation and some much-needed rest and relaxation, the hallways, classrooms, gyms and fields are once again filled with the energy and excitement of 600+ students.  We could not be more excited.

Our week started off with a warm welcome for our new 9th grade students and transfers.  We then welcomed those same 9th grade students into the building on Wednesday for a half-day that allowed them a more relaxed environment to learn their schedules and meet their teachers.  We capped off the day with lunch and an ice-cream bar, provided by the student council, and a “club fair” that allowed students an opportunity to meet club leaders and explore ways to stay connected with LHN beyond the traditional school hours.

On Thursday, the campus really lit up!  Our seniors showed up bright and early for senior sunrise, a great way to start their last academic year as a mustang!  The entire student body, faculty and staff then gathered for opening chapel, hearing a message that focused on the theme, “Bread of Life.”

As we begin our 54th year of ministry, we ask for your continued prayers and thank you so much for partnering with us in ministry.  These are important years in the life of a child, and we are thankful for the opportunity you have given us to help raise them up in the faith.  As 3 John 1:4 says, “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the faith.”

Saved to Serve,

IMPORTANT DISMISSAL PICK-UP PROCEDURES

This communication is intended to help make our parking lot dismissal as safe and smooth as possible. Here are some hints to help:

  • You are not required to pick up your student at the exact dismissal time. Consider arriving 20 minutes after the bell - traffic will be lighter.

  • You must enter the parking lot through the East entrance and exit through the Garfield exit or the 24 Mile Rd. West exit.

  • At dismissal time, park in any open space to wait for your student.

  • The lane on the West side of our building between doors 3-4 is reserved for Utica bussing in the afternoon.

  • Create waiting lines along the East side of the building and also along the sidewalk in front of the school. (see diagram linked above).

Please be advised that parking/waiting in front of our mailbox and in the designated crosswalks is prohibited.

SCHOOL MESSENGER NEW FEATURE - SCHOOL MESSENGER

The Lutheran High Schools are pleased to share that our schools are using SchoolMessenger, a trusted communication platform, to send timely and important updates directly to your cell phone via text message.  This system will help ensure that you stay informed about school-related information, school events, emergency notifications, and weather-related closures.

What is SchoolMessenger?

SchoolMessenger is a widely used notification service designed specifically for educational institutions.  It enables schools to communicate quickly and securely with families using SMS (text messaging), voice calls, and email.  The platform is compliant with the Student Privacy Pledge, which means your personal information is protected and will never be shared or sold.

To OPT-IN

To begin receiving text messages from Lutheran North, simply send a text message with the word "Y" or "Yes" to the number 67587 from your mobile device.  Once you opt-in, you will begin receiving messages as they are sent. If at any time you wish to stop receiving texts, you can reply to any message with "Stop".

We encourage all parents and guardians to Opt-In so you can stay connected and informed
